At the heart of suburban Tokyo, the 30,000 capacity stadium’s design focuses both on the rush of emotion of being inside the venue and also on the exciting experience of approaching the building.
The magnitude of reaching the building for an event has hugely influenced the powerful design. The landscape provides a wide pedestrian walkway, acting as a bridge, where fans walk in unison towards the stadium.
The concept of movement that takes place inside the stadium and out sees exterior cladding wrapping around the concrete core structure in a dynamic form, thus creating an overhead canopy. The façade has been created from aluminum panels in three different shades of silvery green. The impressive forms then lower to the ground, creating part of the hard landscape.
